ROLE SUMMARY

The General Manager for Congaree Golf Club will have oversight of Congaree Golf Club located in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

The General Manager is responsible for ensuring all hospitality, lodging, food and beverage and events are executed at the highest level and delivering exceptional ambassador experiences. The position will oversee all team members related to hospitality and ambassador engagement. The focus on providing a modern luxury experience that mirrors one that our ambassadors and guests would experience at our resorts is essential for the success of this role. Congaree has become known for its culinary and wine programs and constantly receives accolades which the General Manager needs to continue to help evolve and grow. Working with the Director of Golf to continually enhance the experience at the club will be crucial to ensure Congaree’s position within the golf community.

This position will be full time year-round at Congaree. During the summer while the club is closed the General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all special projects and the continued training of the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years small luxury hotel, club or similar operations with a strong focus on F&B

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Extensive wine and spirit knowledge

Experience leading diverse teams

Strong relationship skills

Strong collaboration skills

Bias for guest privacy

Exhibits and carries a reputation for the highest level of personal & professional integrity

Ability to coach and mentor Department Heads and their teams

Familiar with today’s business support tools including personal computers and smartphones, standard software applications (MS-Office, G-Suite), and a good working knowledge of all commonly used social media platforms

Able to process complex information, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, and the general public

Financial analysis and P&L management skills

And while there is no initiation fee, Congaree’s “ambassadors,” as they’re called, are encouraged to not only make a financial contribution to the charitable Congaree Foundation that’s separate from the club, but to take an active role in interacting with youth and sharing their life experiences, both good and bad.
