The Facilities Department of Arnold & Porter has a General Services Clerk opening in the New York office. The General Service Clerk is responsible for conference room set ups, office moves, general office maintenance, health-related office cleanliness, and furniture maintenance and relocation. This position will work 100% in the physical NY office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing work orders and requests sent to the Facilities Department.
  • Performing regular cleaning and maintenance for offices, conference rooms elevators, doors/glass paneling, restrooms, pantries, and reception areas.
  • Assembling and disassembling multipurpose rooms for meetings and events.
  • Conducting physical office moves and coordinating furniture and box relocations.
  • General monitoring and periodically assessing janitorial supply shortage information for supply reordering.
  • Maintaining and replenishing supplies in conference room, copy rooms, coat closets and pantries.
  • Reporting issues and required repairs immediately.
  • Prioritizing health-related cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Spot cleaning carpeted surfaces as needed and reporting larger issues as they arise.
  • Identifying and reporting broken or non-functional light fixtures.
  • Supervising and assisting facility vendors during office repairs.
  • Assembling custom office furniture and unique requests as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or five (5) years of work related experience.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to plan and organize work.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of firm with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Possess reliability, dependability and motivation.
  • Excellent organization and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional client service, both internal and external.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary.
