Under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer, is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the City"s geographic information system (GIS). Responsibilities include serving as project manager for GIS technology and data. Duties include, but are not limited to, performing complex data analysis using ArcGIS and related extensions/add-ons, creating and maintaining relational databases, and development and use of other computer programs to solve complex spatial and relational problems. Create, edit, evaluate, research and analyze data from multiple sources and datasets in a variety of formats. Must be familiar with monitoring and administering spatial databases, including versioning, validating edits from City editors and QA/QC database processes. The GIS analyst will produce geospatial maps and map products, including digital maps and web applications. This position coaches and supports employees in developing proficiency in the use of GIS; ensures that GIS affiliated databases are maintained; maintains the integrity of data within the GIS; develops and manages spatial databases, interfaces the GIS to other systems and Internet mapping sites; participates in the design of new GIS solutions to aid in the progress of City business and departments. Develops and documents repeatable analysis methodologies, applications and strategies; and researches security practices and assists with writing policies. May perform fieldwork to capture data for the GIS.
The successful applicant will have a Bachelor"s degree in GIS, cartography, geography, computer science, or related discipline; supplemented by at least two (2) years of professional GIS or related experience including experience with conducting GIS projects involving data management, map production, spatial analysis, and network analysis; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Prior working knowledge of ESRI Enterprise System, ArcGIS Online, Web App Builder, and current ESRI Desktop software required. Experience in Python, SQL and Arcade scripting required. Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Project management training or experience preferred.
