Umyuaq Consulting Group, LLC is growing, and we are looking for ideal candidates to fulfill the position of the GIS Technician I. Over the last 18 months, we have hired talented GIS professionals that will be working alongside the newly hired staff members in a dynamic, challenging, and fun environment.

This is an entry-level position. Candidate must provide documentation, such as a portfolio, of their work experience as part of the interview process.

Major Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain GIS datasets and linkages to various databases;
• Perform spatial analysis on data using GIS software;
• Read and interpret source documents, plat maps, property deeds, and legal descriptions;
• Enter required data into a standardized GIS database;
• Generate map documents that are incorporated into community outreach materials; and
• Communicate and work alongside GIS staff and other team members with varying short/long-term deliverable schedules.
• Must self-perform quality assurance of work product prior to technical review, and be open and willing to receive feedback as a learning/growth mechanism.

This is an entry-level position. The selected candidate will work directly with the GIS Manager and GIS team members on several community outreach and real property projects. Workload will include 10% research, 25% information analysis, 50% data entry and editing in a standardized ArcSDE environment, 10% development of presentation materials, and 5% helping staff a toll-free call center by way of answering incoming calls. Candidate must provide documentation, such as a portfolio, of their work experience as part of the interview process.

Experience

One to three years relevant experience working in GIS. Experience may be through class assignments, internships, or other employment positions. Must have proven ability to think/work and problem solve independently. If candidate possesses more than 5 years of relevant experience, please do not apply for this entry-level position.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
