Job description

We are looking for a Groundskeeper& Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Flint Hills Pork in Herington, KS! The Grounds & Maintenance Specialist will maintain the exterior of building(s) and perform landscaping and related services required to maintain safe and attractive facility ground(s).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Groundskeeping

• Maintain sideways, driveways and parking lots
• Mow lawns, trim weeds, and rake leaves
• Pick up and remove trash prior to mowing
• Plant, trim, cut and remove trees, as needed

• Plant, trim and remove bushes, shrubs, and hedges, as needed
• Ensure proper hydration of lawns, trees, and plants using sprinkler systems, hoses, watering cans, or irrigation systems
• Operate a variety of maintenance equipment such as shovels, rakes, or saws
• Operate power equipment and other vehicles such as tractors, mowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, or other similar machines

• Empty trash and recycling containers
• Apply fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as needed for application by mixing according to directions
• Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways as needed during winter months
• Operates snowblower or snowplow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots

Warehouse

• Maintain warehouse, supplies, etc. in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
• Receive barn supplies in warehouse, inventory, and deliver to office hot room in accordance with biosecurity protocols

Animal Welfare

• Perform daily composting
• Conduct weekly inventory of feed bins
• Resolve feed bin flow issues; switch bins when empty to limit disruptions for animal care specialists
• Monitor and maintain cool cells, fan banks and pit fans
• Monitor and maintain barn curtains
• Transfer semen from warehouse to office
• Ensure load chutes are maintained in proper working order

Maintenance

• Monitor & record generator
• Monitor & record well
• Monitor & record lagoon levels; work with pumping crew when on site
• Inspect and perform routine maintenance on power equipment, such as mower, skid loader, tractor, company vehicle, etc.
• Troubleshoot issues or problems with vehicles and machinery as necessary to make repairs
• Track inventory of parts and tools needed for repairs and maintenance
• Maintain repair log for vehicles and equipment
• Weld gates, equipment, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic understanding of groundskeeping and landscaping practices and procedures
• Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawn mowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment
• Ability to operate skid loader and tractor
• Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
• Excellent time management skills
• Previous experience preferred
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly
• Acceptable MVR

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
