JOB Available – Handyman / Maintenance Technician

RCG is a professional property management company seeking a maintenance technician / handyman to perform work at properties located in the Greater Boston area with a focus on the following cities/towns: Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, Waltham, Beverley, Chelsea, Lynn, Salem, Danvers, and North Andover. There may be additional towns and cities in the Greater Boston area as well.

The duties include but are not limited to painting, light carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing, cleaning, snow removal, landscaping, and manual labor.

Experience working for a property management company or working for an apartment or condominium community is a plus.

Must Haves:

- The ability to diagnose or repair maintenance issues and propose solution options to management.

- A reliable vehicle capable of hauling materials, ladders, and driving in winter weather (preferably AWD or 4WD. No rear-wheel-drive vehicles).

- Willing and capable of being on-call and available to report to properties on short notice for emergency situations on nights and weekends (typically every other week).

- Willing to work in occupied apartments, some of which have pets.

- Available between August 15 and September 30 every year, as this is our busiest time.

- Polite and capable of communicating effectively with customers and staff members.

- Capable of providing a detailed description of the work performed to the maintenance administrator each day, preferably in writing via the maintenance app.

- A smartphone capable of running the company's maintenance app and capable of sending and receiving texts, emails, and photos.

- Due to the proximity of our properties, the candidate must live in towns or cities north of Rt 90, East of Rt 95, and south of 128/the Yankee Division Highway/Beverly.

- Have hand and power tools necessary to perform the tasks described above efficiently. That will typically include the following:

Basic power tools should include: Hammer drill/drill/driver, Circular saw, Reciprocating saw, Jig saw, and Cut-off tool/hand grinder

Basic Hand tools to include: Screwdriver set, Allen wrench set, Pliers set, pipe wrenches/channel lock, Vise grip set, Socket set, Metal snips set, Hand saws/hack saws

The candidate will be paid $23.00 - $26.00 per hour commensurate with experience, $40/month for cell phone reimbursement, and partial reimbursement for auto mileage used while working. Candidates will be paid overtime if/when they work over forty hours in a week. Candidates will be required to take breaks during each day.

RCG contributes towards health insurance if acquired through the company and offers paid time off. Employees that work an average of forty hours/week earn 24 paid days off each year (which includes company holidays – of which there are 7.5 in 2022).

The candidate will need to pass a thorough background check including a criminal background check. As part of the background check, we will require the candidate to demonstrate their ability to perform some or all the above-mentioned ‘Must Haves’ by working as a temporary employee on a paid trial basis until the skills and fit are verified. That typically takes about three-four weeks (but may take longer) assuming there are sufficient work order opportunities during that period.
