VACANCY NOTICE
TITLE: HEAD MECHANIC Civil Service: Non-Competitive
Full Time, 12-month position Non-Affiliated/Uncertified
Facilities DivisionLocation: T-S-T BOCES Campus
DUTIES: *Performs a variety of repairs to buses, automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other machinery and equipment. *Schedules maintenance work to insure proper servicing of vehicles and equipment. *Repairs ignition systems, generators, regulators, etc. *Repairs or replaces springs, axles, wheel bearings, transmissions, clutches, heater cores, brake systems, pumps and carburetors. *Makes minor welding repairs to bodies and chassis. *Paints bus bodies and repairs interiors including seats and windows. *Adjusts steering mechanisms and aligns wheels. *Maintains records of parts and supplies used and prepares requisitions. *May perform major engine overhauls. *May drive school bus on a regular basis or substitute as needed. *Works under the direction of Director of Facilities. *Oversees Automotive Mechanics. * Does other related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic (completion of a traineeship AND two years of journey-level experience); OR Seven (7) years working as a skilled automotive mechanic. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Must possess and maintain a New York State Driver’s License.
Special Requirement: Must be willing to obtain Class B CDL with P & S endorsements within one year of hire.
START DATE: January 16, 2023
SALARY RANGE: $ 44,200-$52,000 Excellent Benefits are available.
