About the Role
  • Responsibility for providing a broad approach to finance business collaboration for multiple functional team members including P&L support with consideration given to pricing, yield, margins, operating costs & profitability
  • Focus of the role is to provide overall financial insights into business drivers in order to deliver and develop the site’s strategic objectives and annual budget
  • Support Finance Director by producing complex/custom analysis that requires sound business knowledge and understanding of business trends
  • Understand and support the business to maintain audit and financial legislative standards, working with Partners to embed good practice with excellent communication skills
  • Overall responsibility for supporting of the site through the financial planning, annual budgeting and forecasting processes within the Attraction/Brand/Region with a view to set realistic and achievable targets
  • Support the Finance Business Partners to develop tactical delivery plans supporting the overarching financial objectives
  • Able to assess insights, both from an operational and financial perspectives and then to articulate the impacts with clear recommendations
  • Budget authority, service ownership and leadership of cash office specialists including performance, engagement and learning development.
  • Accountable for collaboration with the Finance Hub to ensure the finance processes (as defined by the Process Taxonomies) reflect accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Preparation of month end commentary, providing insights and suggestions for remedial activities
  • Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliation prepared by the Finance Hub including deferred revenue and fixed assets
  • Partner with the business team member to deliver and drive sound financial vendor and customer terms through building the right external relationships for Merlin
  • Investigates & questions reported trends in important metrics with team member group and implements mid to short term plans to maximize performance
  • Challenge unusual P&L movements, forecasts and fluctuations to ensure forecast and actual financial performance is robust
  • Responsible for financial analysis of key business drivers using standard suite of reporting tools via the Finance Hub and data from other internal and external sources
  • Assists business operations to manage Financial Governance, Risks and Controls as outlined by Group Policies and financial reporting standards
  • Act as the finance leader to build and maintain partnerships to develop strong networks across the area of responsibility
  • Provides insight and recommendations for aspects of the business beyond those that are finance specific
  • Is able to build a business case and reports to support or challenge strategy
  • Manages financial planning as a dynamic activity that changes and evolves in line with business requirements with a firm grasp on materiality and prioritization of tasks in this area
  • Designs and carries out sensitivity and stress tests for financial initiatives
  • Demonstrates awareness and understanding of the wider business drivers and challenges when communicating all financial information
  • Interprets regulations and expresses the technical detail in a clear and effective way
About You
  • Strong Qualified Accountant
  • CPA, MBA qualification
  • 5 years or more of previous experience
  • Experience within a Commercial Finance role
  • Experience of running and performing budgeting or forecasting processes
  • Providing financial support that drives the commercial decisions
  • Ability to manage delivery of and compliance with all legal requirements including statutory accounts, audit, company secretarial, contracts and health & safety Experience in a consumer facing organization with a continuous improvement agenda
  • Excellent analytical ability with a good attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present plans to support business decisions, to both finance and non-finance team members
