We’re looking for a talented Head of Programming to join our team.
Position Summary:
As the Head of Programming on our Content team, you will be responsible for developing and executing effective programming, editorial and merchandising strategies across all content formats, including AVOD and FAST, to drive audience acquisition, engagement and retention. In this role, you and your team - of editorial, scheduling, and, eventually, content acquisition managers - will partner with various internal stakeholders to negotiate, acquire, categorize, schedule, and promote all content on the platform. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the culture and content, and be a data-driven, strategic thinker who is adept at evaluating and translating those data and insights into innovative, cohesive, and impactful editorial strategies and plans. Exceptional critical thinking, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills are essential for this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Leverage the content and brand strategy, as well as audience data and insights, to develop the editorial vision, strategy, and approach
- Analyze viewership data and insights gathered from primary and secondary research and external benchmarking to inform and optimize the acquisitions and programming strategies.
- Assess and recommend content for acquisition or licensing, using both a data-driven approach and the editorial lens.
- Partner with the Content Licensing team to secure and execute licensing agreements with content providers in alignment with the content strategy
- Identify and develop partnerships with emerging creators whose work aligns with the content mandate for editorial, branded content, and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and launch on- and off-platform campaigns intended to drive awareness and audience engagement with Mansa content, including Originals.
- Work closely with content partners, including studios, production companies, and content owners, to drive impactful merchandising, seasonal, and thematic marketing promotions in alignment with the editorial calendar.
- Establish goals and KPIs to determine the performance of both the content and associated campaigns, identify opportunities for the business to increase their impact, and design and execute strategies to achieve them.
- Manage the programming team’s output and process, including development, optimization, and maintenance of programming calendars, schedules, and communication materials.
What You Bring:
- 8+ years of content strategy, content acquisitions and [linear and/or non-linear] programming experience in the streaming and entertainment industry.
- Sound understanding of the technical, legal, and operational aspects of content programming.
- Familiarity with commercial deal terms and comfort leading aspects of the deal negotiation process in collaboration with Content Licensing and Legal
- Experience crafting and implementing successful editorial strategies and campaigns.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with proven ability to measure, analyze and translate data and insights into effective, actionable strategies, and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively build influential, collaborative relationships with cross-functional and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation abilities and as well as the ability to interface, lead conversation, and establish alignment with all levels of management.
- Exceptional planning, project management, and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
- Experience managing a team and acquiring international content is a plus!
