POSITION SUMMARY
Lead the highly successful women’s volleyball team. Provide vision and direction as the team continues to pursue its mission: “Winning Championships – Developing Champions.” ONU is a member of the NAIA. The Head Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule and supervise a fall/spring game and practice schedule.
Work within budgetary guidelines for all phases of the program.
Arrange transportation through public safety for all matches.
Recruit and maintain a team of 24 players.
Schedule practice and game facilities through the Athletic director and Facilities Coordinator.
Provide supervision at all practices and matches.
Provide players with proper practice opportunities and knowledge to improve their game.
Keep the supplies and equipment for their particular sport in full repair and secure.Includes pre and post season inventory (with copy going to Athletic Director) and includes supervising and coordinating the prudent use of these during the season and storage during the remainder of the year.
Ensure the proper completion of physical examinations and all forms relating to emergency medical authorization and insurance.
Complete the NAIA coaches training course “Character Driven Coaching.”
Supply the sports information director with player rosters, team results, records broken, as well as individual and team season high lights.
Submit a roster to the registrar for eligibility certification.
Follow department and university guidelines for purchasing, travel, reimbursement, and maintenance of facilities.
Adhere to the athletic department logo, colors, and fonts.
Recommends athletic scholarships according to amount budgeted.
Recommends athletes for rewards certificates and other special awards.
Submits proposals for fundraising or special projects involving outside sources to the Athletic Director for clearance from the Office of Development.
Hires personnel to assist with their sport as approved in the current budget.Clearance should be obtained at the beginning of the season from the Athletic Director as the number, names and duties of the persons to be hired.
Accepts full responsibility for athletes’ conduct and appearance during home events and away.
Other Duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graduate Assistant, Student Athletes, and managers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Successful coaching experiences such as:
a. College head coaching experience
b. Successful collegiate assistant coaching experience
c. Recruiting, administrative and budgeting experience
d. Successful head high school coaching experience
Possess personal characteristics such as vision and excellent communication skills
Demonstrate an understanding and sympathy for education in the Wesleyan tradition and Nazarene school sponsorship.
Demonstrate an active relationship with Christ as expressed in faith and service, which is in accord with the mission of Olivet Nazarene University.
Be a model of Christian discipleship as confirmed through active engagement in a local church, involvement in campus worship, and through a vibrant, current testimony.
The head coach should possess a good knowledge of the sport including, but not limited to, knowledge of training and conditioning techniques and the ability to diagnose player deficiencies and prescribe corrective activities.
The head coach must be able to clearly communicate with players, parents, and supervisory personnel.

EDUCATION
Master’s Degree preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Offices for the volleyball staff are located in the Leslie Parrot Convocation Center.
