South College Online seeks candidates for a remote full-time faculty position in Medical Terminology. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in a related field and preference will be given to candidates who have successfully taught Medical Terminology in the online format. The position is online remote and will report directly to the Department Chair for Health Science Online.

The Medical Terminology faculty will teach twenty (20) college-level courses per year. Content will include, but not be limited to:

Medical Terminology:
This course presents an anatomy and physiology approach to the study of medical terminology. Prefixes, suffixes, root words, combining forms, plural forms, and abbreviations are included in the content. A word-building system, phonetic pronunciation, and real-world applications are introduced. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary, spelling, procedures, and definitions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facilitating discussions effectively, providing live and recorded lectures as necessary. The Medical Terminology faculty will also facilitate discussions effectively, maintain student grade and attendance records for all courses taught, coordinate updates to the master course shell (Blueprint) in Canvas, maintain and update course syllabi, assist in choosing instructional materials, and supervise adjunct faculty teaching these courses online.

All faculty are required to participate in department activities, including committee meetings, curriculum discussion, student solutions management, and other service activities. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:
Applicants must have a terminal degree in a biological science with successful completion of a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in directly related coursework including, but not limited to, biology, human anatomy, human physiology, biochemistry or other related courses. Preference will be given to applicants with prior successful online teaching experience.
