Healthcare Data Analyst
Salary $70,000 - $75,000 DOE
Position Summary: Working in a fast-paced environment, under the direction of the Data Analyst Manager, the Business Data Analyst is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of analytics applications to support high priority initiatives, and specific patient account services and finances that are critical to the success of Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB). The Business Data Analyst will identify, source and manage the data needs of cross-functional lines of business (clinical and non-clinical) to deliver key strategic insights to organizational stakeholders. This position is an integral part of the SIHB team and works in a collaborative manner to understand the dimensions, uses, and data requirements of SIHB’s operational and clinical teams. The Business Data Analyst will work with management teams to develop regular reporting and data visualizations to inform operational and managerial decision making and process improvements. The selected candidate will need to work collaboratively with other highly skilled data analysts and data coordinators and be involved in data requests, and the generation of assigned regular data reports. The position will also require working independently, self-management with minimal guidance, exercising critical thinking and analysis skills, multi-tasking, understanding the agencies data, creating visualizations from data analysis and statistics needs, and the ability to meet changing deadlines.
The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for identifying and analyzing new business opportunities and analyzing business data, working closely with various departments, and using appropriate analysis tools and technics to identify and analyze business needs and develop concepts, SOW proposals, budgets, and presentations.
The Business Data Analyst will need to be proficient in SQL Server, Power BI or Tableau, Excel Pivot tables and familiar with electronic health record systems (preferably Epic Healthcare software) healthcare financial systems, healthcare and business reporting, and SharePoint.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and design data infrastructures, data analysis, methodologies, reporting processes and mechanisms that will be delivered to the Executive Leadership team on organizational strategic priorities.
- Create and maintain agile and visual reporting dashboards to facilitate on demand report access to key stakeholders.
- Deliver key operational and strategic insights using analysis and modeling requirements, assumptions, and best practices gathered from organizational stakeholders and external resources.
- Collaborate with Executive and Division leadership to identify, prioritize, and design key performance indicator reporting to inform operational and managerial decision making.
- Write and create algorithms and coding systems for all analysis performed on data for data preparation, data abstraction, data analysis, and measuring calculations.
- Partner with cross-functional partners to investigate, document and map how non-clinical and clinical data is captured, stored, and interacts, to better inform and deliver insight analytics.
- Analyze data characteristics, attributes, trends, or patterns. Review data reports for quality and consistency. Be able to explain variations in data. Prepare necessary data cleanup as it relates to improving the quality of data for research and operation purposes, and share findings with data owners to improve ongoing data quality.
- Look for effective solutions to address data quality.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Take initiative while establishing strong, collaborative, interpersonal relationships with colleagues at all levels and from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds.
- Demonstrate cultural competency in working collaboratively with American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
Background Qualifications
Required:
5 Years’ Combination of Experience in:
- SQL Database Administrator, Analyst, Design or Developer and proficiency in SQL Server SSAS, SSMS, SSIS and SSRS services tools.
- Using Tableau or Power BI including ETL, DAX, Power Queries, Excel Power Pivot.
- Health Care and Health Data including EPIC System Crystal Reports, Javelin, Business Object, Hyperspace, Workbench and designing reports within EPIC internal and external reporting tools.
- Business analytics in finance, healthcare, projects and grants and contracts.
- Designing Visualization, Modeling, Cleansing, Analyzing, and Reporting Data using SQL DBA Tools, Crystal Reports, Power BI/Tableau and Excel Pivot.
- Attending daily meetings and communicating with various departments regarding their data requests and making appropriate decisions as required.
- Project management, and writing statistical and financial data reports.
- Writing and analyzing concepts, proposals, and creating budgets based on project knowledge areas and process groups as scope, schedule, and cost.
- GIS Software and using GIS mapping in health care and business and mapping to identify services by GPS points.
- Creating and revising reporting forms, formats, templates, dashboards, and charts.
- Understanding the health and social issues facing AI/AN communities and a desire to promote the delivery of appropriate health services to this population.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, business studies, management, information technology, or computer science.
- A successfully completed background check.
