Ryan’s Excavating has been serving the Iron River and surrounding areas since 2004. We work in both the residential and commercial sectors. Our Residential work includes site clearing, basement excavation and backfill, driveways, parking areas, water lines, sewer lines and septic systems among other things. Commercial work generally consists of site preparation, sewer, water and storm main installation, manhole replacement and excavations for repairs of such utilities.
We are currently seeking motivated individuals for a full time, seasonal Heavy Equipment Operator’s position. The ideal candidate for this position would have experience working on job sites utilizing heavy equipment Mechanical skills are a plus. An individual should be ambitious and motivated to succeed with a good work ethic, have strong communication skills, be personable and take pride in their work.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate a variety of heavy machinery, including but not limited to excavator, dozer, skid steer, loader, roller, etc.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner while communicating with others using verbal and non- verbal hand signals.
- Operate equipment for the installation or repair of sanitary sewer and water services, storm sewer, septic systems, culverts, drain tile.
- Excavate and backfill basements and foundation walls.
- Grade for parking lots, driveways, drainage.
- Clearing and grubbing
- Safely load, secure, transport and unload heavy construction equipment and materials.
- Perform routine inspections on the equipment and trucks to ensure they are in proper working order.
- Physical labor as necessary to complete projects. This is not a “Sit in the seat” position.
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines.
- Safely maneuver machinery in tight quarters, around people, traffic and utilities.
- Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the company.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have basic math skills, be able to measure and read measurements.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Reliable transportation to work.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- At least 1 year experience operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability and willingness to learn and understand your position.
- Ability to work long hours.
- Ability to work in all environmental conditions.
- Good work ethic, punctuality and alertness.
- Mechanical - Knowledge of equipment, machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Must be hardworking and self-motivated.
