Job Description: The Histology Technologist/Technician is responsible for preparing and processing specimens for gross and microscopic examination and diagnosis by a pathologist.

Responsibilities:

• Performing histology and cytology procedures
• Preparing and maintaining solutions for stains and histology procedures
• Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
• Adhering to department policies with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment, and procedures performed

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience OR High School Diploma AND completion of an accredited program in Histotechnology OR Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience
• National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required
• Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes
• Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples
• Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist
• Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation, and staining of specimens
• General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Ability to train others
• Effective and proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills

Salary Range:

• Histology Technologist: $26.66 - $38.65 per hour
• Histology Technician: $22.03 - $31.95 per hour

Sign-On Bonus:

• Histology Technologist: $7,500
• Histology Technician: $5,000

Relocation Bonus: Available (unspecified)
