GENERAL SUMMARY:
Housekeepers perform the day-to-day housekeeping of resident apartments and common areas in order to assure that
the residence is clean, safe, and comfortable. Housekeepers maintain all cleaning supplies and equipment and assure
that the services are provided in a sensitive, professional and effective manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment
- Ensure front area of community is clean and presents well at all times
- Ensure model apartments are on the schedule to be checked and cleaned during the week
- Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials
- Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, window sills, pictures and wall hangings etc.
- Wet mop floors in resident rooms and bathroom, damp mop all corridor floors, lobby, and dining areas
- Clean and disinfect wash basins, mirrors, commodes, tubs, and showers
- Check and clean vacant rooms to keep them fresh and move-in ready
- Clean public restrooms a minimum of twice daily and as needed
- Clean and maintain storage areas
- Ensure housekeeping cart is maintained and locked at all times when not in use
- Properly dispose of soiled/contaminated linen, as required
- Wash windows and clean air vents as scheduled
- Perform laundry duties as assigned while keeping the integrity of individual residents clothing and linen
- Assure that established infection control practices are maintained
- Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the supervisor
- Assure the equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of each shift
- Report all burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, low supplies and emergency call lights to the supervisor as soon as possible on the day they are discovered
- Report all accidents and incidents as soon as possible to your supervisor, no matter how minor
- Maintain the confidentiality of residents’ personal care information
- Honor the residents’ personal and property rights
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, referral sources, vendors and outside contacts.
- Able to make independent decisions
- Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
- Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with seniors a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
- Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
- Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
- Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
- Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping
- Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey instructions and information to residents and team members
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Work in all areas of the community
- Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and other conditions
- Required to use personal protective equipment and supplies to prevent burns, falls, and infection and follow safety policies and procedures
- Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves and non-slip shoes
- Subject to infectious diseases, substances and odors
