JOB DESCRIPTION FOR HOUSEKEEPERS

Summary

A Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of all common areas including his/her assigned residents’ apartments. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of serving senior adults. Housekeepers report directly to the Housekeeper Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Dust all tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, lamps/light fixtures, walls, vents, handrails, ceiling fans, baseboards and blinds.

• Vacuum carpet, sweep and mop floors. Spot clean carpet when needed.

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms. Refill paper towels, toilet paper and soap dispensers.

• Clean inside of windows and mirrors.

• Empties common trash and resident’s trash containers and assists in taking trash from staging area to dumpster.

• Clean inside and outside of washer/dryers. Empties the lint traps.

• Assists residents when on laundry services with personal laundry and folding of laundry

• Identifies potential maintenance issues and reports findings

• Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical and cleaning solutions use and stocking of housekeeping carts

• Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process

• Responsible for participating in and supporting the resident social activity program

• Attends staff meetings and training when necessary

Other Duties

• Must work alone in apartments will little supervision from the Director

• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cleaning and operating equipment

• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods

• Knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials

• Attention to detail, reliability, integrity and honesty

• Must be able to work flexible hours

• Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances

Working Conditions

• Exposed to body fluids, infection, odors, and behavior of residents

• Exposed to chemical and cleaning solutions

Physical Demands

• Must possess sight and hearing senses that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met

• Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, push, pull and twist using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time

• Must be able to walk several miles a day

• Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability to cope with the stresses of the job

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $11.00 per hour
