Description

The Human Resources Department seeks a customer-focused, detail-oriented individual who enjoys helping others achieve a healthier lifestyle to join our team as a Part-Time Human Resources Assistant. The ideal candidate will serve as our Wellness Coordinator and provide exceptional customer service to employees and the public while assisting in a variety of areas for the department.

Examples of Duties

Coordinates the City's Wellness Plan. Creates and facilitates programs, produces and distributes material related to the Wellness Program, conducts and coordinates speakers to motivate and educate staff on healthy eating and staying healthy. Communicates effectively to employees about health and wellness and how to foster a healthier lifestyle. Participates and motivates staff during planned health and wellness activities.
Assists employees, family members and supervisors with questions and concerns pertaining to benefits and explains various benefits offerings.
Receives and directs calls and visitors, answers various inquires personally and provides information on Human Resources departmental services and functions. Assists with career fairs, testing programs, training sessions and other events.
Works with all City departments in serving the citizens of Jefferson City.

Typical Qualifications

Must exhibit professionalism, confidentiality, tack and diplomacy and have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Knowledge and experience of office procedures and equipment including Word and Excel and ability to learn specialized software required.
Physical: Ability to lift heavy file boxes; visual ability sufficient to effectively operate office equipment; read, comprehend and create reports, correspondence, and instructions; hearing and speaking ability sufficient to hold conversation both in person and over a telephone; ability to deliver and retrieve items within the City Hall Complex and throughout the City; maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
Mental: Ability to concentrate on work and maintain accuracy with constant interruptions. Ability to handle complex mathematical computations. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Supplemental Information

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; with considerable experience in progressively responsible administrative work, preferably related to benefits, wellness, insurance, human resources or an equivalent combination of training and experience and a valid drivers license.
This position requires a flexible schedule Monday-Friday, approximately 16-20 hours per week.
