Typical Duties

  • Facilitates the recruitment and selection process for temporary & non-exempt vacancies including activities such as creating, editing and distributing job announcements, application materials and completing reference checks.
  • Supports managers on employee and human resources issues, college policy and practices, including issues of employee complaint, discipline, performance improvement and termination/exit processes.
  • Presents information on a variety of human resource topics (e.g. employment requirements, employee orientation, general district benefits offered, etc.) to varied audiences.
  • Administers appropriate onboarding documents for new recruitments.
  • Administers all aspects of the employee benefits program including coordinating and ensuring payroll deductions are made for the administration of all insurances and other benefits the college provides; maintains flexible benefits enrollment plan, reimbursement database and reimbursement requisitions for medical and dependent care; and maintain supplemental insurance database.
  • Provides support and direction to employees on benefit plans and policies.
  • Maintains worker's compensation files and compiles required OSHA and other requested reports; assists with the coordination of workers compensation claims and acts as liaison between insurance carrier and the college.
  • Oversees corporate and community education programs and temporary worker programs. Assists hiring managers with the qualification, selection, and hiring of corporate and community education
    and temporary workers.
  • Assists with the administration of human resource programs as requested; responds to requests for information and assistance from employees, management, and the public; prepares a variety of reports; provides data and reports for special purposes as requested
  • Assists with the implementation and maintenance of electronic/paper employee and personnel files; audits personnel files to ensure all contain proper/complete data prior to annual audit; monitors such personnel transaction as leaves and accruals; identifies and corrects errors according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provides support for the payroll department with benefit reports, etc.
  • Serves on various campus committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Associates degree from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in human resources or in a position responsible for personnel functions
Or
  • Any combination of education and experience that results in possession of skills, knowledge and behaviors as outlined in the positions core competencies below.

Preferred Qualification
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in human resources, business, or a related field
  • Industry-recognized certification, such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
