Position Overview
Under direction, responds independently and professionally to diversified telephone and TTY/Nextalk and email inquiries from Department of Human Services (DHS) providers, customers, other state, federal and local agencies/organizations and the general public regarding agency policies, program and services related to transitional services (i.e., Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Residential Services, Educational Services, SNAP, Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, etc.). Utilizes independent research and investigative techniques to determine circumstances related to the provision of a broad range of public assistance benefits. Conducts personal interviews, resolves problems and inquiries. Performs professional casework tasks and duties for all categories of assistance be determining eligibility with review of all factors for verification and expenditures using electronic clearance system and any additional information. Compiles monthly data and prepares monthly reports on all unit activities. Participates in meetings to identify common or unusual problems and call patterns which are the basis of upper management recognition of potential crisis through DHS.

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology/anthropology, social welfare, or a closely related field.
- Requires one year of professional casework or crisis intervention experience in a social service agency OR successful completion of an agency-sponsored training program.
Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of a qualifying examination.
