The University Child Development School Studio Infant/Toddler Education Program, an innovative Reggio inspired program, is seeking a curricular support teacher to cover a maternity leave term from November 2022 through February 2023.

Details:

This teaching position begins in November and will end in March. Typical hours will be from 9am-6pm with an hour lunch break. This is a full-time position with full benefits (after an eligibility waiting period). The annual salary is $55,000 and will be prorated for the November to March timeline. Qualified applicants should have experience teaching in a group setting. Experience working with children younger than 3 years old is preferred.

Successful candidates are collaborative, exhibit a growth mindset and demonstrate an Image of the Teacher that reflects the belief that teachers are researchers, coaches, and mentors who learn and grow alongside students in the classroom. Main responsibilities include collaborating with the teaching team to implement curriculum and projects based on the interests and developmental needs of students and working collaboratively to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the program. In our school you find teachers who lean in to children’s inspirations and ideas, documenting the process of learning through notes and pictures, studying children’s behaviors and interests, and considering each unique individual both as their independent self and as part of the classroom community.

Candidates must be able to work as part of a team, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be inspired by children’s wonder and natural curiosity about the world around them. Please see below for more information about the UCDS Teacher Profile.

Program Philosophy:

From the youngest age, infants and toddlers tap their natural curiosity and begin to learn through play and investigation. Our program draws from current research that supports the idea that young children need meaningful experiences and relationships to learn and grow. The program is student-centered and designed to celebrate each child as unique. Teachers use observations about children to design curriculum, giving students the assurance to explore, discover, connect and create on their own and in collaboration with others.

Designed to be flexible, our curriculum puts children at the center. Learning emerges from children's theories and ideas as they experiment, investigate, question and explore. The curriculum uses extended blocks of time for discovery, play and group projects that feed and inspire children's curiosity.
