Position Summary:

Validates quality data in accordance with publicly reported measure sets, and submits to approved vendors. Supports Infection Prevention activities though collaboration and facilitation of teams, development of databases and creation of customized data reports. Organization-wide compliance with standard requirements established by TJC, IDPH focused on hospital standards and infectious and communicable disease reporting

Position Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse, with a BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program is required.

Board Certified in Infection Prevention and Control as awarded by the Certifying Board of Infection Control and

Epidemiology preferred, or achievement within 3 years of hire

  • Computer proficiency is required, especially knowledgeable with databases and spreadsheets.
  • Data analytical skills and attention to detail: ability to ensure vigilance in data analysis to come to correct conclusions.
  • Communication Skills; ability to write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas. Self-starter with good interpersonal skills. Works well alone and in a team environment.
  • Critical Thinking: ability to look at the numbers, trends, and data and come to new conclusions based on the findings.
  • Knowledge of current principles and practices in Quality Improvement and Infection prevention is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission and CMS standards, clinical measurements, and reporting processes is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of statistical data collection and interpretation required.
  • Familiarity with various software programs used for data entry and reporting including Epic., INEDSS, Visient, NHSN

Responsibilities:

Supports the Infection Prevention Quality Improvement activities of the organization through annual gap analysis performed during tracers and from identified opportunities from data and rounding, developing data reports based off of laboratory findings and mandated reporting and creates reports for a variety of groups in the organization. Demonstrates knowledge of Joint Commission standards related to Infection Prevention to assist various departments and service lines in meeting performance improvement requirements.
