Job Purpose and Impact

The Inline Process Analytics Technology (IPAT) Specialist is a subject matter expert supporting and advancing the use and performance of inline analytical instrumentation for the Starches Sweeteners and Texturizers site in Eddyville, IA. In this position, you will develop a deep, hands-on understanding of inline analysis techniques, technologies and data connection/architecture. You will propose, trial, and support installation and calibration of new analytical solutions and support the expansion of applications for known, inline analyzers enabling business value delivery and maturity growth. You will also sustain, maintain, and improve upon existing IPAT installations and be the end-to-end owner of IPAT performance for the facility. You will support and lead others through influence. You will lead and enable performance monitoring/management for all onsite IPAT instruments and create/sustain supporting documentation according to good operations and laboratory practice (in alignment with business strategy and investments.) As a part of the instrumentation and IPAT team, you will stay informed of the market for new developments in instruments, methods, software, and consumables. Key Accountabilities
Act as the main contact and the local subject matter expert for IPAT instruments ensuring end-to-end performance of all related inline analyzers uptime, availability, accuracy, precision, and leverage (use in control/automation) enabling value delivery – responding to IPAT technical issues with a solution or strategy in a timely manner. Partner with site operations and regional functional teams, including automation and control systems network groups, to coordinate the implementation and optimization of inline analytical solutions that may include hardware, software, network, data capture/management/visualization, and operating systems Utilize knowledge of inline and rapid analytic techniques, spectroscopy, advanced chromatography, hyphenated techniques, and automation systems Build contacts and relationships with instrument vendors, including participation in seminars and other events, and continuously monitor the market for new technologies and updates that are beneficial for the organization and meet the demands of the customers. Lead projects following the project management guidelines including building new project proposals, developing project plans and business cases and defending them at different levels in the organization. Create, adapt, and/or sustain documents related to IPAT instruments, such as standard operating procedure, best practices and maintenance logs and keep them up to date. Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. Other duties as assigned.
