TITLE: Instructional Paraprofessional, Job Coach - PATHS Postsecondary Program - Emerald Campus
JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Academics and Student Learning

POSITION SUMMARY: To work closely with students identified as having a disability in an effort to provide them with the physical, emotional, behavioral, and academic support necessary to gain full benefits from the district’s special education program.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
  • ONE of the following requirements is needed for compliance:
  • Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester or 72 quarter hours as verified by college transcript from an accredited institution of higher education); OR
  • Obtain an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education (defined as any associate degree program from an accredited institution of higher education); OR
  • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment - (i) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics; or (ii) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in readiness for reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License.
  • Good human relations with an ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
  • A neat appearance.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assists students in the completion of postsecondary education training and employment activities assigned by the Intervention Specialist.
  • Assists the Intervention Specialist in routine activities, implementation of IEP services, behavior plans, and student assessment.
  • Assists in the preparation of materials, displays, and individual student accommodations and modifications.
  • Assists with job skills to enhance their readiness for employment.
  • Assists Intervention Specialist in maintaining a good learning environment.
  • Assists the Job Training Intervention Specialist (Postsecondary) or Transition Coordinator (Secondary) in providing specially designed instruction and supports for developing appropriate employability skills.
  • Transports students, using a district vehicle, to assist them on the job site.
  • Assists Transition Coordinators, Intervention Specialists and related services staff in the development of students' empoyability skills.
  • Maintains up-to-date data and electronic student files (Google Drive); meets reporting requirements for students participating in job training experiences.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with community business partners.
  • Assists students with personal health care needs such as toileting, personal hygiene and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Participates in professional growth activities.
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
  • Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 191 Days (183 work days, 8 paid holidays); 7 hours per day excluding lunch to be established by Superivosr. Salary as provided by Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board of Education.

SALARY: $22.84/HR. - $25.16/HR.
