TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Long Term Sub Position

STARTING DATE: As Soon As Possible through the End of the School Year
Do you have experience working as an automotive services technician? Do you want to give back to the automotive industry and community by working with high school students who represent the future workforce? Look no further! Check out the duties and qualifications below.
DUTIES:
1. Provide instruction to high school and adult students preparing for careers in Automotive Services program.
2. Implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEP’s) to meet students' needs.
3. Oversee all activities that provide high school students with a hands-on, practical experience in Automotive Services.
4. Implement curriculum according to New York State secondary school standards and practical applications.
5. Attend faculty and professional development meetings.
6. Arrange for speakers, field trips, community service and shadowing experiences for students.
7. Work in a team environment that fosters the philosophy of collaborative planning and an interdisciplinary approach to learning.
8. Communicates with school staff, parents, districts, and community agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Candidate must be willing to obtain NYS Certification: Vehicle Mechanical Repair Initial Certificate.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an automotive technician.
3. Willing to work collaboratively with team members to effectively support the needs of all students.
4. Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) Certification (Suspension & Steering; Brakes) preferred.
5. Commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development.
6. Enthusiasm towards working with students and their families to help the students succeed.
7. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with adults and students.
8. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
