Job Summary

This front-line leader and subject matter expert uses knowledge of pipeline integrity engineering principles and practices to support the Company’s natural gas pipeline integrity management program. This supervisor ensures compliance with maintaining corporate records and makes decisions on engineering problems and methods. Responsible for company's Integrity Management Program. Pipeline Risk Assessment and Corrosion Control Programs. Oversees integrity engineers, corrosion control personnel and works with internal employees and external contractors; reviews project specifications, timelines and financial projections. Reviews complex engineering problems and makes decisions on methods of resolution using a high level of independent judgment, initiative and discretion. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines, including practical field experience. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees pipeline integrity and corrosion control programs, including planning, managing and evaluating work performance; developing and monitoring budget; and selecting and developing staff
  • Directs integrity management and corrosion control program to ensure compliance with the Company’s Operations and Maintenance Plan and Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Stay up to date on current and proposed pipeline integrity regulations, participate in the regulatory process, submit positions and comments to rulemaking dockets
  • Identify, evaluate and risk rank pipeline safety threats or risks
  • Implement remediation plans, measure performance, monitor results and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Advise management on current pipeline regulations, industry standards, integrity assessment methods, repair methods and other applicable technologies
  • Develop scope of work, manage bid process and pipeline design/construction
  • Monitor and support engineering related activities as related to field construction projects
  • Initiates or performs engineering studies, proposes solutions or recommends alternatives
  • Perform onsite quality control and support for pipeline inline inspection tool runs and other pipeline integrity related field operations
  • Prepare written procedures to facilitate construction, maintenance, pipeline integrity assessments and operation of gas transmission and gathering systems
  • Develop plans and budgets for pipeline assessments and other integrity project costs
  • Conduct studies and analyses to assist in the resolution of engineering-related issues; will assist with developing engineering standards and practices
  • Leads or plays a key role improving output of job assignments and work processes.
  • Mentors and provides guidance/direction for less experienced personnel
  • Ensures integrity and corrosion related corporate records are maintained in accordance with Company’s retention policy
  • Other duties as may be assigned by leader

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Seven years of engineering experience (including minimum of two years leadership/integrity project management experience that includes demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead work teams of vendor and company personnel)

Other Qualifications Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer license and/or Master’s Degree

Other Requirements:

  • Natural gas or hydrocarbon liquids pipeline integrity management experience
  • Strong knowledge of planning and execution of pipeline integrity management tasks including ILI and DA, pipeline remediation, threat identification, risk assessment and records management
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards including applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, laws, and codes, ASME B31.8S, API 1163, and CFR Part 192.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to provide onsite support of pipeline assessments including troubleshooting during inline inspections.
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints
  • Experience leading cross functional teams
  • Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings/schematics and other engineering documents
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company
  • Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline including Excel, Word and Access database
  • Effective in self-management of time with a demonstrated personal commitment to work

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and meet company-driving standards
  • Ability to travel away from home office for up to 30% of the time
