100% REMOTE - Must be based in the US

Foot Locker’s Store Systems Services team is driving digital transformation in our retail store environments. The Store Systems Engineer will join an energized technology team focused on driving innovation and operational excellence, while providing modern customer and employee experiences for our retail stores. As an Engineer, you will be responsible for building and supporting IT systems that promote our retail environment – these include Point of Sale, Mobile Checkout, Digital Signage, or other customer-facing technology. This role requires you have a strong understanding of infrastructure, cloud, and systems engineering. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and organized individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must have proficient problem-solving and analytical capabilities, a technical acumen to support a fast paced and demanding environment, and a tenacity for creating world-class customer and employee experiences.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and implement gold standard administration, engineering, and product strategies for Foot Locker’s Store Technology Engineering portfolio.
  • Build and support system management of technical environments and retail hardware systems.
  • Provide mentorship and communication to the team – work to empower service teams to provide an elite standard of support for our end user community.
  • Monitor technology servers and system performance – while providing exceptional customer service and timely response for support.
  • Enhance deployment capabilities and look for opportunities to improve technology processes.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving ability by clearly defining problems, analyzing data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Must have ability to troubleshoot operating systems and software issues by using documentation and support resources. Coordinate with other team members to solve problems, support, and coordinate the implementation of new technologies.
  • Stay current with knowledge in the retail technology field by proactively learning new technology areas and researching or identifying industry trends.
  • Work with security engineers to translate the required actions and task for operating systems security, systems administration and prepare required information for system audits.
  • Manage workload for Engineering team by leveraging intake, implementation, routine, and incident work.
  • Manage enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform by installing, deploying, updating, and monitoring app usage on the company deployed mobile devices.
  • Availability for the support of applications and systems outside of a normal workday (as needed)
Qualifications:
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to mentor and guide colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of Point-of-Sale system architecture and engineering.
  • Working knowledge in the following areas: VBscript, PowerShell, Shell/Bash/Korn Scripting, C#, SQL, Webservices, XML, SW Packaging, Networking, Server Mgmt.
  • Understanding of Windows Server OS, Active Directory, TCP/IP, etc.
  • Understanding of Red Hat Linux and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Understanding of virtualization technology including VMWare vSphere and ESXI.
  • Strong operating system and utility software troubleshooting; able to use vendor documentations, on-line resources, and support organizations etc.
  • Fluid understanding of database structure (access, SQL, Oracle) and ability to write, optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries.
  • Firm understanding of MDM solutions such as SOTI, Intune and other mobile applications as well as knowledge of mobile device hardware and software including IOS and Android platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have 2 – 5 years of work experience in a Linux/Windows environment.
  • Work experience in systems administration.
  • Experience with hardware, peripherals, and their staging.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or 2 – 4 years of full-time experience supporting applications in an information systems environment.
  • Working knowledge of IT security concepts
  • Working knowledge of IT networking concepts
  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes.
  • Vendor management experience

Benefits:

The annual base salary range is $70,000-$80,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
