As the Item Specialist you will be responsible for the item creation process, BOM structures in PDM and Baan. Provide technical and engineering support for Service Spare Parts and Consumables.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uses all tools necessary to create and validate items requested through the item request system.
- Works with the VAL item experts and other departments to create validated items (VAL#'s) in the Baan system.
- Creates bills of materials and new part numbers in the appropriate Baan and PDM system.
- Provides technical support for the Sales Engineers and Spare Parts Coordinators.
- Research alternatives for obsolete material and designs.
- Trains other members of the Item Creation department as required.
- Provides support for research and development of new products and product improvements in the Daily Spares area.
- Research references to be used in estimating costs.
- Ensures items are OK for use in ERP business system
- Participates in team activities including the Item Management Global Team
- Maintains Local Item Master File by ensuring data is correct and current
This job has significant aspects and OH&S responsibilities requiring special care to prevent pollution and minimize safety risks.
What you’ll need;
To excel in the role, you Associate's degree (A. A.) in Engineering or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience in Engineering and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Also, you have relevant experience in working with Bills of Materials and CAD Drawing interpretation and understanding. You also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, can manage multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment, have the ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicate effectively with clients and can take initiative to identify and anticipate customer needs and make recommendations for implementation.
