Job description
Develop skills in others for their future success!!
Many of us take a paying job and active life for granted. For adults who experience disabilities, the goal of having a job can seem unattainable. But it isn't! Our Skills Trainer works alongside the Project SEARCH team to help interns participating in our skill-building internship program level up their employability and achieve their employment goals. As a Skills Trainer, you will be working side-by-side with those we support to help them overcome obstacles, build job-related skills, and smash their goals! Every day you will work with a variety of individuals to find new and creative ways to bridge the gap between workplace requirements and accessibility for all.
So What Does That Look Like?
Generally, this position works a regular weekly schedule during normal building hours. During the 'School year,' you will work closely with a group of interns at the Newberg Friendsview community, helping them learn skills and meet their goals. In the 'Summer,' you will monitor the last round of interns, partnering with their job coaches to ensure that they are thriving in their community placements while you prep for the next round of interns to start. This job builds deep relationships with the interns that come through the program and the host site employees. Everyone is on the same team, and while there is a routine set of expectations and goals, the route you take to get there can look different! This position provides a lot of room for flexibility and variety inside the stability of goal-driven work.

But it's not the fun bit. Approach your work with the highest level of integrity and bring your best even to the dreaded paperwork.
- We Got This!- Supporting people with a "can-do positive attitude" is a team sport at MVA! We are all here to ensure the work gets done and that the people in our services live their BEST lives.
