What You Will Do:
The Job Retention Coach (JRC) provides one-on-one, face-to-face coaching to assess and address needs on the job, at home, and within one’s self. By building meaningful, individualized relationships, the JRC will walk alongside our LSSI Works participant’s during their first year of employment- supporting, advising, reinforcing key training lessons, and providing case management to build solutions to any challenges they encounter. This individual with be responsible for monitoring and coaching participants on the 5 Core Competencies: professionalism, communication, time management and team building skills. In partnership with the Works team they will teach participates how to incorporate the 5 Ways to Transform your Life within their job.
The JRC is also responsible for maintaining employment partner relationships, garnered by the Relationship Manager, to ensure LSSI Work’s participants have diverse options for employment. Through building these partnerships, the JRC will leverage the programs uniqueness and benefits to the employment partner to open doors for participants that otherwise may have remained closed. A JRC works with the participant and Employment Partners in achieving the goal of both initial employment and employment retention for one full year.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Participant Employment Coaching – 65%
- Establish authentic, supportive relationships with participants.
- Coach individuals to employability (specifically issues related to personal stability).
- Communicate with the Professional Development Coach (PDC) and Training Facilitators about all participant challenges requiring additional support.
- Working closely with the LSSI Works Training team to identify red-flags in any participants’ behavior, program performance or personal life that would impact the participant’s ability to obtain and retain employment.
- Administer Needs assessment with all participants.
- Facilitate values training, brand development, and speed interviewing with all participants.
- Initiate referrals and advocate for participant involvement in wrap-around services through internal and external resources.
- Connects participants with resources for additional services such as obtainment of health insurance, food stamps, appropriate clothing for class, transportation, etc.
- Maintain relationship/communication with employed participants, including regular face-to-face meetings. If necessary, travel to participants’ work locations and/or other appropriate locations to meet with participants, as needed.
- Encourage and motivate employed participants to reach their personal and professional goals.
- Provide constructive, timely coaching to participants to ensure they are prepared for job market and corporate expectations in partnership with PDC and Training Facilitators
- Collaborate with established Employment Partners and employers of LSSI Works participants as needed to ensure top-rate retention and maintain partnership.
- Assist participants with development of preliminary personal budgets at hire and assessment of budget at 3, 6 and 9 months after hire for long term stability.
- Accountable for the job retention of participants for a minimum of one year with the same employer.
- Maintain internal processing database to document work activity, income, client progress and communications on all participants.
- Organize and prioritize workload to ensure client’s needs are met in a timely manner.
- Prepare individual outcomes reports, upholding a high standard of data integrity.
- Actively contribute to the goals set by LSSI Works/ LSSI within the framework of a high-achieving, tight-knit team environment.
- Participate in morning Motivations.
- Uphold LSSI’s mission, impact statement and values.
- Participate in weekly departmental meetings to organize training schedules and strategize necessary participant support and organization meetings as scheduled.
- Track all pertinent data related to department goals, documentation and assigned tasks in a timely fashion while achieving individual metrics.
- Assist with intake and onboarding of new participants.
- All other responsibilities as assigned by the LSSI Works Director.
Employment Partner Engagement – 35%
- Work in collaboration with the Relationship Manager to develop and maintain Employment Partner base by building and maintaining relationships with hiring managers and human resources professionals.
- Maintain and track employment partner employment requirements, available openings, active hires, and employee feedback.
- Submit participants to potential employment partner, who you believe are a fit for the company culture and role that is being hired for.
- Tracking comprehensive data from Foundations through Placement through 1 year
- Ensure all data is captured, submitted, and accurate for all participants.
- Collaborate with LSSI Works Training Team to create course content for LSSI Works.
- Liaison between Employment Partner and participant to ensure partner job expectations are being met.
- All other responsibilities as assigned by the LSSI Works Director.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Demonstrated motivation to seek the specific needs of participants and develop or adapt coaching to meet said needs.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn community resources appropriate to needs of participants.
- Experienced and comfortable communicating one-on-one and with small groups of people.
- Excellent communication skills, both in written format and oral presentation.
- Understanding of and empathy for clients served, including those with differing cultural, racial or ethnic identity.
- Knowledge of human behavior and dynamics.
- Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships, externally and internally.
- Ability to work independently while having ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Excellent organizational, time management skills and strong attention to detail.
- High energy and passionate about educating and coaching the adult learner.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn program policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2 years of professional experience in working with individuals to provide coaching and/or case management services.
- Demonstrated work history of resourcefulness and problem solving.
- High energy and ability to engage others toward a common goal.
- Strong work ethic and business acumen with ability to excel in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and ability to meet documentation deadlines.
- Experience working with economically disadvantaged population, ideally in a coaching capacity.
- Valid US driver's license, insurance and car for full time business use.
