The Juvenile Diversion Officer position is responsible for performing professional case management work with clients of the Juvenile Diversion Program, including appropriate intervention, through direct and referral services, and screening and evaluating individuals being considered for admission into the program and for ensuring compliance with the Diversion contract.
Pay range: (2080 annual hours): $54,328.20 - $82,176.27 (hiring rate DOQE)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Reviews police reports with the Director/District Attorney's Office.
- Supervises and works closely with youth who have committed low-level legal offenses.
- Assists with administrative duties such as, billing and vouchering, processing deposits, data entry, and collecting and reporting data.
- Schedules intake meetings with family and juvenile to determine appropriateness of the Diversion Program.
- Designs a Juvenile Diversion Contract following the written guidelines.
- Designs and implements one on one offense specific education between Diversion Officer and juvenile.
- Monitors progress and compliance of the diversion program and determines appropriate sanctions for noncompliance.
- Provides support and counseling to parents and juveniles.
- Takes on call for police agencies after hours and weekends concerning Diversion juveniles.
- Organizes and facilitates accountability conferences with Diversion juveniles, victims and families.
- Provides mediation for families when necessary.
- Makes collateral contacts with school, mental health agencies, social services by phone contact, meetings and home visits.
- Conducts drug screening and monitoring, community service, and coordinates drug/alcohol/life skills classes for Diversion clients.
- Attends required court hearings if specific to a diversion case.
- Maintains appropriate statistical data.
- Attends appropriate training and conferences specific to juvenile issues as assigned by Director.
- Maintains positive relationships with the Grand County community.
- Tracks juveniles placed on pre-adjudication release.
- Conducts periodic staff meetings with District Attorney's office on progress of juvenile.
- Keeps record of defendants' court ordered community service and notifies the court of each defendant's status (completed or not completed) at the time of his/her due date.
- Participates in interagency meetings in and out of the Grand County area and on juvenile specific coalitions/boards as assigned by Director.
- Writes and submits grant applications
- Establishes new community programs for at risk juveniles, and follows through.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
