Academy Dog Training by Haywood is on the hunt for two individuals who are dedicated to dogs! This position is the glue to hold this operation together and helps us provide dogs with the best cleanest service possible. This is a morning and evening part time position. You'll be helping to either open or close our warehouse location. A lot of our training and care for dogs center around physical and mental stimulation. That being said, a lot of your responsibilities will be assisting to helping walk and care for our precious dogs. You'll also be our support crew in the mornings or evenings. This includes duties like prepping areas for trainers, handling spills and helping clients with checking out dogs.

This position is great for those who are just getting into the pet industry or would like to continue moving forward in their journey. You will have the opportunity to learn how to work along dogs, shadow trainers on staff, and learn proper ways to physically care for a wide variety of breeds! If you do not love engaging with dogs please do not apply.

Responsibilities

- Assist with Canine Conditioning Course.

- Onboarding and giving dogs to their owners.

- Conduct weighted and normal walks conditioning and daycare training dogs for physical goals and bathroom breaks.

- Feeding and providing water for dogs.

- Cleaning and sanitizing arenas & crates, organize kennel room, keep organization systems straight.

- Additional tasks are opening and closing the Warehouse location.

Academy Dog Training by Haywood has been serving the DMV for four decades. Haywood got his start with dogs when his family adopted a German Shepherd when he was 5 years old… he has never been without one since. He learned obedience training under the tutelage of an Air Force K-9 trainer in his late teens. He worked as a Veterinary technician, and then worked for several other trainers during college before going out on his own.

in 1985, he opened his first school, Friendship Academy for Dogs. Developing a unique training program that would maximize success for both owner and pet. The upstart Bethesda business would rapidly grow. In 1995, he opened the Pet Depot a hub for all things pet. The warehouse had a dog training school, vet hospital, pet store, and grooming salon, everything needed for pets to thrive. Still active, Haywood now oversees the two locations and almost 4,000 alumni in Silver Spring. Constantly looking for ways to improve the lives of pets.
