Manage warehouse activities such as aggregation and tool check out. Ensure cleanliness of facility and food safety measures while coordinating volunteers through these tasks. Look for community partnerships opportunities to process food that is unable to be distributed. Increase relationships with foodbanks and rescue of perishable foods to ensure food access and decrease food waste. Increase sorting and distribution days. Ensure recipes and nutrition fact sheets compliment and are delivered with gleaned produce. Inquire current sites on a regular basis to determine if food is going to waste and the client's ability to use delivered foods. Drive and inspect mobile food truck. Update and maintain project files, track metrics and indicators in order to evaluate program effectiveness and success, including monthly report statistics.

Kitsap Harvest was created in 2017 to increase equitable access to fresh nutritious foods as it is a public health concern locally as fresh food access is directly tied to overall health. The intention of Kitsap Harvest was moving food to food banks, but the foods we gleaned added to an overabundance that added to the “perishable” waste stream. As we developed we learned about the great need in our community that lies beyond foodbanks, leading us to target senior housing, low income communities, youth, and recovery. We created partnerships with community service centers such as Kitsap Community Resources, Peninsula Community Health Services, and Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center. The Vista will assist with efficient volunteer coordination and maximizing efficiency with warehouse aggregation and distribution processes. Build our capacity in using this space multiple days in the week. Participate in community outreach to expand the service area and lead Health Promotion efforts.
