Job description
The Estimator is responsible for preparing estimates and proposals for commercial projects. The Estimator is also responsible for aspects of project expediting and administration, including booking of jobs and billings, purchasing and subcontracting activities, pricing monthly applications for payments, internal document creation and external documents reproduction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
- Access bidding documents and scope of work required to price all aspects of the project required to complete the Bid including:
- Analyze and distribute RFP’s from potential Subcontractors and Suppliers.
- Review of General and Special Conditions, Bonding Requirements, Insurance Requirements and Project Schedule. Request and secure appropriate Bonds.
- Review Project Documents for the scope of work-calculate volumes and lengths and areas.
- Generate quality estimates, subcontractor quotes and suppliers proposals. Work jointly with Commercial Sales Representatives to determine pricing and final bid totals.
- Prepare final bid Documents including completed Proposal forms, Bonds, affidavits and submit bid prior to require specific time.
- Perform the following activities once a project has been awarded.
- Prepare internal Booking documents
- Produce and distribute project documents, booking folders, and all project submittals.
- Coordinate Subcontractors Agreements and prepare the necessary documents.
- Prepare change orders
- Review Monthly Applications for Payment
- Creates landscape takeoffs and estimates for commercial landscaping.
- Organize, catalogue and package Project Documents for storage and maintain an accurate inventory of documents.
- Consults and conceptualizes with salesperson regarding general design schemes to be used for project.
- Coordinate production of the contracted plan design solution to include designing, takeoffs, estimating, booking jobs, and contract writing.
- Utilize knowledge of landscaping to make recommendations in regards to design elements such as trees, shrubs, plants, hardscapes, etc.
- Facilitates information to the Production Coordinator assigned to the installation, answering questions regarding the landscape design or plan.
- Complete other tasks such as delivery and pick-up of plans, disks, films, etc.
- Make recommendations to improve processes.
- Participates in training of new staff members as needed.
- Follows company safety policies and procedures at all times.

Education and Experience: *
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or similar field of study.
- 2-4 years of previous experience in construction is preferred.
- Experience with estimating landscape or construction projects
- Ability to read and understand commercial landscape plans and specs
- Familiar with reading Construction documents for compiling submittals and closing documents
- Understanding of plant material and construction material

Other Requirements: *
- Strong ability to manage and schedule workload within multiple project timetables.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office and be proficient in Excel.
- Ability to meet deadlines and analyze project details.
- Ability to discuss landscape process with customers and crews.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, presentation and Customer Service skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license with excellent driving record.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: *
- Work is primarily performed indoors.
- Exposure to standard office conditions, including exposure to heating and air conditioning and operation of computer.
- Regularly stands, walks, sits, talks and listens for long periods of time throughout the day.
- Squats, stoops, or kneels and lifts objects from ground.
- Occasionally lifts weight of up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to reach above shoulders.
- Vision and fine motor skills required for use of computers.

Job Specifications*
- This is a Full-time position year round position.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm Overtime may be required as workload dictates.
