The Lead Science Teacher oversees the implementation of the Science curriculum and teaches 5th-8th grade science to small classes of boys preparing for success in high school, college, and beyond. The Lead Science Teacher works closely with others in curricular and cross-curricular activities to foster a love of learning and responsibility to the broader community. The Lead Science Teacher actively participates in the extended day program that promotes the growth of the whole person.

Job Requirements

• Responsibilities:
  
  • Effectively manage 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science classrooms by setting high expectations and creating relevant, standards-based lessons.
    
  • Assess and further develop the existing science curriculum with special attention to the content and methods appropriate to the students’ developmental levels, social/cultural and religious backgrounds.
    
  • Moderate or coach at least one, seasonal extracurricular activity per year.
    
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the administration, whole faculty, and grade-level teams to discuss individual student progress and further develop the curriculum.
    
  • Serve as proctor of recess, lunch, or other areas as assigned.
    
  • Serve as a leader willing to work with and support novice teachers.
    
  • Use current instructional technologies effectively.
    
  • Integrate Gospel values and Ignatian Pedagogy in all facets of the work described.
    
  Qualifications:
  
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative environment
    
  • BA or BS and teaching experience are required. Preferred applicants should have a masters degree
    
  • 3-5 years teaching experience
    
• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
• Bachelor degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
