Laurel Ridge Rehab and Skilled Care Center in Jamaica Plain, MA is searching for SLP (weekdays and/or weekends). Our facility has a great mix of both short-term and long-term care residents and is easily accessible by public transportation with ample parking!

Must have current MA SLP license.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

To provide patient evaluation, care planning and direct treatment to a general rehab caseload. Participates in the clinical team process. Provides teaching and training to patients, families and caregiver staff. Participates in clinical program development.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY

As a Speech-Language Pathologist you are delegated the responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. As Speech-Language Pathologist, you may supervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, Restorative Aides and students as necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS

  • Screens patients according to policy.
  • Evaluates patients and develops appropriate plan of treatment.
  • Under a physicians order, provides evaluation and direct patient treatment in accordance with an established plan of care.
  • Contributes to the interdisciplinary team meeting/process.
  • Consults with and trains patients, families and caregivers.
  • Maintains productivity expectations on an ongoing basis.<br> Documents treatment according to companies’ clinical documentation system on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, caregivers, team members and supervisor
  • Promotes positive customer relations.
  • Participates in clinical program development and implementation.
  • Demonstrates ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Exhibits courtesy, compassion and respect to patients, families, care givers, visitors, physicians, administrators and other team members.
  • Delivers services in compliance with the facilities ethical standards, policy and procedures, national professional standards, state practice acts where applicable, and current accepted state of the art practice.

Other: Tasks and duties as assigned by the Rehabilitation Manager, or Administrator as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Work is performed in the Rehabilitation Department and on patient care units. Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, anti-neoplastic pharmaceuticals and other materials and substances that may be used in patient care or on the patient care unit. Light to moderate travel to other sites may be required.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Occasional physical effort with medium to heavy objects. Transferring patients weighing between 100 and 250lbs is frequently required.

Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary.

Good hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations and marketing activities.<br>Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, for manipulation of equipment and for direct patient care.

Good visual skills required for patient assessment, documentation and report analysis.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL DEMANDS

Requires intense attention and concentration.

Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently for self and others.

Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Ability to articulate and comprehend the English Language.

Use of computer technology for documentation in an efficient manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Master of Science Degree in Speech Language Pathology and professional licensure in the state of hire.

Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational and analytical skills required.

Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.

Demonstrated ability to utilize independent and effective clinical judgment, problem-solving and decision making skills.

Utilizes effective time management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $79,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
