We are currently seeking a Loan Servicing Assistant to join the team in our Back Bay office. The Loan Servicing Assistant will perform a variety of loan servicing/processing activities with the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers. Primary Responsibilities

  • Set up new loans for commercial, construction mortgage, residential mortgage, home equity, collateral loans, installment loans, personal loans, business overdraft, and ACH lines. Perform initial review of legal documents and setup forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Research and resolve servicing issues in support of lending teams and customers within scope of authority and expertise. Work with manager to ensure timely and accurate Loan Servicing practices.
  • Ensure timely payment of escrowed hazard insurance premiums, PMI premiums and real estate taxes. Respond promptly to all written and verbal requests by customer, attorney, insurance companies, and town treasurers relating to escrow and insurance administration. Ensure timely and accurate processing of all ongoing yearly escrow analyses.
  • Process re-amortization schedules and modification agreements; review modification agreements for accuracy and completeness. Calculate new principal and interest payments. Prepare and provide new disclosures and agreements to customers for signature.
  • Monitor, maintain and update rate and payment change records as required. Send adjustment notices to customers and respond to any customer inquiries or concerns. If required, manually calculate daily interest and per diem rates for the customer/lender/attorney.
  • Process all basic/simple loan payments; prepare mortgage and loan bills daily including corrected and replacement bills as well as order coupon books.
  • Perform general ledger account balancing. Reconcile research and make corrections as necessary.
  • Identify flood, CRA, and other regulatory issues via setup forms and documents. Reviews co-worker’s new loan setups via daily reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Perform monetary and non-monetary maintenance on all loans. Daily verification of branch new loan setups and approvals. Update spreadsheets with daily volumes, i.e. daily metrics and board reporting information.
  • Work with systems team to run the CRA file as well as Escrow Analysis files via complex assessment of funds availability.
  • Perform advances and disbursements on all loan types; review and research requests to ensure all risk associated have been mitigated.
  • Operate document-imaging equipment to create electronic files or archives. Responsible for scanning, indexing, and verifying records accurately. Maintain accurate records such as; quality assurance, conversions and tracking of documents.
  • May process loan payoffs as well as prepare requests to attorneys, lenders and customers for all loan products. Calculate interest amounts and research the discrepancies.
  • Support other Loan Servicing team members in post-closing, payoffs and documentation responsibilities.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.


Position Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum 1 year banking, lending or loan processing experience required
  • Must possess basic understanding of debits and credits
  • Prior experience or coursework in accounting desirable
  • Intermediate technology skills required (knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications)
  • Knowledge of Bank’s various residential, consumer and commercial products and policies desirable
  • Ability to lift loan files up to 20 pounds
