This job exists to: Serve as coach and supervisor for the Medical Assistants who work on the Pod delivery teams in collaboration with the RN and medical team, providing the highest level of continuously improving quality medical care, health education and preventive services possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide day-to-day direct supervision/coaching of Medical Assistants, including hiring/firing authority and performance appraisals
- Manage MA pod/patient flow, including MA visits and group visits.
- Manage tasks and patient/provider follow up with assistance from team.
- Oversee patient prep and room set up for clinical care.
- Accomplish orientation, education and training of new clinical pod staff in clinical support activities. This will include leading classroom trainings on clinical skills.
- Supervise proper routine cleaning and storage of medical equipment.
- Ensure stocking of exam rooms is standard and complete.
- Provide pro-active clinical support while assisting the clinician in meeting patient care follow up, exam room set up and meeting organizational goals (see Medical Assistant Job Description).
- Collaborate with Clinic Nurses and ANDs regarding Pod supervision.
- Administer CLIA and lab proficiency in a timely manner.
- Proficient in the use of Clinica Patient Portal.
- Lead daily pod huddles and/or morning staffing huddle.
- Oversee patient prep and room set up for clinical care.
- Supervise medication refills in-house and out.
- Maintain and update daily schedules for the pod
- Review lab tracking reports daily to assure lab quality
- Serve as back up to the Nurse Supervisor /Assistant Nursing Director/Clinic Director for NextGen emergent scheduling needs.
- Participate on designated committees. Including:
- Clinic Leadership Team
- MATM monthly meeting
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe work environment:
- Implement, review, apply and actively enforce the clinic’s safety policies.
- Support the safety program by actively looking for opportunities to improve safety practices and evaluate staff for safety practices and ergonomic issues.
- Discipline staff when safety policies are violated.
- Compliance:
- Knowledgeable of and compliant with laws and regulations governing area of responsibility.
- Responsible for reporting any potentially non-compliant conduct.
- Cooperate fully with our Compliance Officer in upholding our Compliance Plan.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and coach Medical Assistant Staff in collaboration with Nurse Supervisor.
- Initial and annual Performance Evaluations.
- Disciplinary action as needed.
- Leadership and modeling of Clinica values.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:
- Authority for hiring and day to day coaching of Medical Assistant staff in collaboration with Nurse Supervisor.
- Final authority for decisions to terminate the employment of a Medical Assistant staff member.
- Provide patient education.
- Actively works to maintain a good working relationship and team approach with peers and coworkers.
Progress is reviewed quarterly and results are measured and formally evaluated annually.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Medical Assistant Certification through an external agency is required.
- Graduate from medical assistant school or one to two years of healthcare experience with on the job health technician training successfully completed.
- One year experience working as a medical assistant at Clinica is required.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to flourish in a team management system
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills
- Interacts with colleagues, team, and all staff in a professional and collegial manner.

Compensation: Approximately $23.39 - $25.32 per hour. All individual pay rates are calculated based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.
