ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Spaces stop gauge along calibrated scale, according to length of cut specified, and tightens setscrew to secure gauge in position.

· Places single or multiple layers of material on bed of machine with edges against stop gauge or moves lever to advance material in bed of machine against stop gauge.

· Depresses pedal to activate lever type blade that lowers and cuts material.

· Tends machine that trims excess material or irregular edges from variety of materials or garment and shoe parts.

· Stacks lengths of material on table or in hand garytruck.

· Changes blade.

· Accurately uses tape measurer.

· Other duties assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

· LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

· MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

· REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

· PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand. The individual frequently is required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.

· WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

· SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Certain types of safety equipment may be needed in certain areas of the plant, while protective eyewear and close toed shoes are required plant wide. Associates will receive training and must comply with American Excelsior Company’s safety policies and procedures as they apply to this position.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

Newly hired individuals must have a Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Test, and Audiogram. Satisfactory test results are a condition of continued employment. After successful completion of the trial or probationary period, the employee must continue to meet the conditions of this job or be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination or removal from the position.

Pay: $18.10 - $18.20 per hour
