Job Summary:
Assembles, operates, and disassembles bag filling machine and ensures that all bags are filled, sealed, and coded correctly. Fills all required paperwork out correctly and completely.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements and meets all company corporate requirements related to quality and food safety programs.
- Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers.
- Works safely in accordance with company’s safety program requirements.
- Abides by all Good Manufacturing Practices, Dress Code and General Housekeeping Guidelines outlined in Employee Handbook.
- Wears all required personal protective equipment.
- Understands the purpose and function of all employees in the production line and works as a team.
- Reports any product, equipment, or safety issues to your supervisor immediately.
- Understands and follows Metal Detector procedures, properly documents Metal Detector checks, and documents any corrective action steps taken during the course of shift.
- Correctly sets-up machine, checks weights and seals before starting production, and is ready to begin production at scheduled start time.
- Correctly disassembles machine at end of shift, puts all parts in designated containers.
- Observes machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
- Stops or resets machine when malfunctions occur, clears machine jams, and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
- Inspects and removes defective products and packaging materials.
- Stocks and sorts packaging material needed for operation.
- Counts and tracks all packaging materials used before and after production run.
- Properly completes start-up checklist before beginning production.
- Properly documents weights and iodine checks.
- Fills out tracking report as events occur ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
- Ensures all documents are accurate, complete, and signed off at the end of shift.
- Completes tie-out with PICO and notifies supervisor if there are discrepancies.
- Ensures Corrective Action Sign-off Form is completed before production resumes after a breakdown.
- Be able to lift and place rolls of film weighing up to 100 pounds on machine.
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure production deadlines are met.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus and recognize color. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed humid conditions. The employee will interact with and be around moving mechanical equipment and parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and hearing protection is required. The floors in the work area are wet and slippery and there is also fruit debris on the floor.
