Definition
Machinists are responsible for:
- Building and Repairing MFG Tooling
- Stamping Die-sets
- Machining center Jigs and Fixtures
- Robotic Welder Jigs and Fixtures
- Building Product porotypes
- Using Master CAM to create CNC programs for machines used to build the MFG Tooling.
- Using Drawings/ Blueprints or CAD Models to fabricate and assemble tooling.
- Special projects; low volume production parts, production part rework, and building manufacturing infrastructure items (carts, tables etc.)
- Performing daily or routine equipment maintenance required by the machine operator
- Assisting the maintenance department for more extensive maintenance and repairs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safety
- Completion of a daily cleaning assignment
- General cleanliness of work area throughout the day
- Productivity
- Completing work using approved methods
- Completing work within specified time standards
- Keeping an organized workstation / tools clean and put away
- Quality
- Performing quality inspections as required
- Following standard operating procedures for parts that are not in compliance
- Following standard operating procedures when process are out of control
- Keep a constant visual for part defects or problems
- Attitude

Additional Responsibilities:
Machine Operators are often requested to help with Machine Operator and Parts Cleaning responsibilities.
- Setting up production equipment (Jigs and Fixtures etc.)
- Troubleshooting complex machinery operation problems
- Operating manual and semi-automated; sawing, shearing, punching, and drilling equipment
- Removing; burs, sharp edges, mill scale, weld splatter, grease, any other dirt or grime from parts.
- Performs other duties as necessary
Job Qualifications:Education:
- Completion of a 2-year technical degree in machining technology or equivalent training.
- MAsterCAM Mill Essentials Training
Experience: 2-3 years’ experience as a machinist.
Skills:
- Must know how to use computers including Microsoft Excel, Word,
- Must know how to use MasterCAM software
- Must be able to understand Key words and phrases in English
- Must be able to use standard machining measuring tools. (Tape measures, Squares and surface tools, calipers, micrometers, Gage blocks, Angular Measurement devices, sign bars, Inside-height-and depth measuring devices, etc.)
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert fractions, and use right triangle trigonometry.
- Must be proficient in machine operations, techniques including: tool selection, speed and feed selection, work holding etc.
- Must be able to sharpen drill bits using drill sharpening equipment
- Must be able to select appropriate drilling and cutting speed and feed rates for machine operations
