Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the Pasadena Plastics Complex located in Pasadena, Texas. The Maintenance Engineer will require direct coordination with Operations, Maintenance and Reliability to improve plant safety, minimize environmental impacts, meet economic justifications, and improve overall reliability.
Responsibilities
- Identify and implement philosophies and programs that focus on improving and sustaining Plant reliability; Provide expertise for mechanical related issues; research issues and locate experts for assistance when necessary.
- Acts as the site CUI coordinator, working closely with fixed equipment and finance groups to address CUI based recommendations.
- Research and implement procedures, material upgrades or equipment upgrades that will increase run time and improve overall equipment reliability.
- Participate, advise, or lead efforts on the creation or update of Maintenance procedures (Equipment Overhaul, Critical, and Reference procedures) as needed to improve equipment reliability.
- Provide technical support on unit equipment for day to day maintenance and outages/TA’s ;will be responsible for coordinating the decisions of repair/improvement work scopes with equipment SMEs
- Lead and participate in 5-why incident investigations, equipment root cause analysis, and why tree’s
- Act as cost control/project manager for small maintenance projects/unexpected outages
- Adhere to the project process and manage cost for extraordinary maintenance initiatives.
- Analyze and evaluate activity within the Maintenance budget and provide recommendations for cost control and budget development.
- Lead the maintenance based or maintenance driven MOC’s
- Initiates and participate in maintenance driven projects and initiatives to improve plant reliability, employee safety, and environmental conservation
- Analyze the weekly schedule compliance and Field Efficiency metrics by reviewing the data with the group Bi-weekly and see that each noncompliance is categorizing accurately.
- Act as Maintenance Supervisor as needed to gain leadership experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the manufacturing industry
- Basic understanding of rotating and fixed equipment
- Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to gain alignment and resolve conflicts within cross-discipline work groups.
- Self-starter with above average presentation, planning, communications, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.
- High Focus on work efficiency, challenging status quo, and championing improvement initiatives
- Advanced Skills with MS Office Product (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge and experience working with PowerBI application
- Previous Maintenance, Reliability, or Turnaround experience
- Demonstrates competency in the use of computerized maintenance management systems (i.e. SAP, Meridium, or other systems)
- The candidate should be familiar with or capable to be trained in regulatory requirements and industry codes (API, ASME etc.).
