BlackRock Resources is searching for a Maintenance Manager for a client located in IL.
Position Reports to: Plant Engineer or Plant General Manager
Key Alternative Position: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary: Responsible for the overall maintenance, efficiency and upkeep of the entire facility and all of the equipment within. Implements and directs the timely completion of the “Preventative Maintenance Schedule” for the facility.

- Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, stoop, bend, and crouch on a regular basis to check equipment or supplies in low-lying areas.
- Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours, while working with and around machinery.
- Able to work in variable temperatures and humid environments.
- Two or more employees must lift anything that weighs more than 50 pounds.
- Able to climb ladders in a safe and proper manner.
- Must be able to lift (floor to work area) up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to lift (above shoulder) up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to push (waist or shoulder level) up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to pull (waist or shoulder level) up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or its equivalency in experience and/or training.
- 5-7 years of prior experience as a bakery Plant Engineer or Engineering Supervisor.
- Power Industrial Training Certification
- Position Responsibilities / Objectives
- This is a safety-required position in which the employee is responsible for his or her own or other people’s safety in a manufacturing environment. Safety performance and consciousness requires full, uninterrupted, unbiased, cognitive ability and behavior.

- Responsible for Food Quality
- Responsible for reporting food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Work well and cooperate with other members of the line/department you work in and provide good teamwork.
- Manages compliance with local, state and federal government regulations.
- Establish safety as a priority within the Maintenance Department and throughout the entire plant.
- Review and modify the Preventative Maintenance Schedule as necessary.
- Maintain the labor schedule for the Engineering Department.
- Ensure that there are adequate parts in stock/on order to efficiently maintain the equipment and facility.
- Access the capabilities of subordinates and make recommendation for training and career advancement.
- Maintenance of the plant CMMS program.
- Comply with all local, federal and state electrical, mechanical, plumbing, safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure proper permitting is in place and up to date.
- Manage the established labor, materials, supplies and contracts budgets.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that the Maintenance Department is reacting in a timely manner to safety needs.
- Prepare and maintain records required by AIB, Department of Agriculture and other food safety assurance bodies.
- Attend meetings, prepare reports and process documents as may be required.
- Make recommendations and champion projects for the advancement of machine and process efficiencies, costs savings, environmental compliance and overall bakery best practices.
- Analyze and make recommendations for the purchase, installation and subsequent operation of equipment that will advance the projects listed above.
- Be an advisor to the Plant Manager and other department heads on engineering and efficiency related issues.
- To inspect and identify issues with all equipment and facilities herein. Failures of plant equipment shall be documented, reviewed and their repair incorporated into the maintenance controls schedule.
- To assist the Production Department to ensure the throughput of product.
- To properly complete and document the completion of assigned orders, whether given verbally or in writing.
- Compliance with the personnel and process hygiene requirements by maintenance staff and contractors.
- Remove all tools and debris from any maintenance activity once it has been completed and inform a supervisor so appropriate hygiene and sanitation can be completed.
- Notify the Corporate Engineer when work has been completed to enable appropriate and effective clean up measures prior to the commencement of facility operations.
- To identify and inform plant management of issues to be followed up on, especially and repairs that pose a potential threat to product safety or breakage/damage that could cause a food safety risk.
- Work Station Responsibilities
- Employees must be working at all times and assist where help is needed.
- Employees are not to leave their workstation un-attended, unless approved by a supervisor
- Must keep stations clean and orderly at all time.
