Job Title: Maintenance Tool & Die

Reports to: [ ] Supervisor [ ] Asst. Manager [x] Manager [x] General Manager

Job Summary:

Essential Function:

• Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; adjust as necessary. Conduct CPK trials and maintain records for them.
• Assist Tool & Die Maintenance cut, shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules, and hand tools.
• Assist Tool & Die Maintenance file, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
• Assist Too & Die Maintenance fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Lead and assist Tool & Die Maintenance with troubleshooting of dies.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
• Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
• Effectively fulfill job assignments as describe on the department job assignment sheet.
• Assist Department Manager/Asst. Manager in establishing and meeting department annual targets and objective.
• Measure, mark, and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes, and rulers.
• Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.
• Work with team on spare parts management
• Make and manage required documentation related to dies and equipment.
• Working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft office programs
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Maintain and update drawing files as needed.
• Work with various vendors on die related issues.
• Assist Tool & Die Maintenance set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
• Work effectively as a team member with other department staff as needed.
• Understands and follows the ISO 14001 Environmental System
• Understands and follows the ISO 16949 Management System
• Understands and follows the Safety Management System

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred

Experience: Three to five years related experience and/or training

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. Protective equipment will be provided in work areas whenever required. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
