Job description
Chester County Department of Facilities Parks Maintenance has an opening for a part-time Animal Care / Maintenance Worker. This position will occasionally assist with the care of a variety of farm animals located at Springton Manor Farm and help with maintenance of all county parks. The selected candidate for this position will be expected to work on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (i.e., maintain and repair building’s plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses).
- Respond to emergency breakdown of equipment.
- Install new equipment.
- Paint interior and exterior walls and trim.
- Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Six months to one year of job-related experience and/or training.
- Strong mechanical ability.
- Ability to operate light and heavy tools and machinery.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to carry tasks to completion.
- Accurate and detail-oriented.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- A valid driver’s license is required.

- Trade School Certification.
- Ability to remain focused.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Strong time management skills.
- Easily adapts to changes in the work environment.
