Position Characteristics:
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Worker performs routine maintenance duties to include overall building and grounds maintenance and minor repair functions. Deliver meals to homebound seniors in East Baton Rouge Parish when needed. These duties are performed under the direction of Director of Facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council
on the Aging, Inc. ?serving the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance
their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and
provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as
long as possible.?
Maintains and cleans building and grounds.
Cleans, sweeps, mops, floors.
Vacuums, empties trash and garbage containers.
Clean glass doors.
Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
Performs inside and outside custodial duties as required.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
Clear debris from grounds.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Notify management regarding supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
Any other duties deemed necessary.
Physical Tasks:
Performs a variety of physical tasks associated with the work of a Facilities Maintenance Worker including sitting, standing with movement, walking, bending/stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder, reaching below shoulder, reaching at shoulder, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying and pushing and pulling; repetitive hand and foot motion; hearing and vision abilities in accordance with the physical task analysis. Lifting at least 40 lbs. at a time.

- Knowledge of and orientation to the philosophy of the EBRCOA as presented in Mission/Philosophy statements.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, clients and visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in diverse workplace and with a diverse client population. Able to comfortably and respectfully serve the special needs of an elder client population.
