Job Purpose
You will lead the MA Program Support team to support the integration of customer owned Distributed Energy Resource (DER) projects (including distributed generation “DG” such as solar and wind) with National Grid’s Electric Power System (EPS) in accordance with regulatory tariffs and company standards in both Massachusetts.
Support advancement of National Grid’s agenda in respective jurisdictions as it relates to the Company’s Net Zero goals and various state programs (e.g., MA SMART).
Assist in the delivery and development of energy, billing, and crediting solutions to National Grid’s customers and constituents. Meet the rapidly changing needs of our customers, reflecting guidance of our regulators and evolving expectations of our customers, while optimizing the return on investment integrating DERs to the EPS that are innovative, safe, reliable, and efficient.
Key Accountabilities
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Lead a team that supports administration of incentive programs, drives enhancements to the customer experience for customers hosting DERs and/or receiving credits on their bill from DER hosts, and resolves customer escalations/complaints related to DER billing
- Work with key internal stakeholders, notably Legal and Regulatory, providing guidance and data support on DG/DER policy and process improvements around a dynamic and emerging DER market
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with CEI, Regulatory, Legal, Billing, Operations, Finance, Contracts, IT, Account Development, New Energy Solutions, jurisdictional teams and external vendors in order to facilitate communications, integrate work and ensure the successful delivery of DG/DER interconnections and renewable energy programs
- Foster proliferation of process improvement culture among staff and streamlining of process for efficient and effective delivery of interconnections to meet / exceed customer and stakeholder expectations
- Maintain and develop key performance measurements/indicators in order to drive results and optimize reconciliation and cost sharing process for DER customers
- Motivate and develop a functional team, to inspire commitment and engagement and improve long term performance.

- Experience of leading, inspiring and motivating the work of a technical and/or customer service-oriented, functional business unit and demonstrate specific actions to enable the team to function efficiently and effectively

Qualifications
- Experience:
- Master’s degree with at least 4 years of professional work experience OR Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree with 8 years of professional work experience OR at least 15 years of relevant professional work experience
- At least 5 years (OR 2 years with Master’s degree) of previous experience of managing and integrating the work of a technical and/or customer business relations team that demonstrates the ability to provide direction, the appropriate structure and effective resourcing to enable the team to deliver high performance
- Demonstrates strong influencing skills with the ability to make persuasive presentations to small and large audiences. Consistently adapts the content/style of a message, based on an understanding of the climate and culture of a particular group and what will produce the best response
- Experience participating in the preparation and delivery of written materials and oral presentations during regulatory proceedings is strongly preferred
- Recognized as a credible and knowledgeable expert within their subject matter and builds collaborative networks across multiple geographies, sites, and areas of expertise
- Demonstrates the ability to translate complex policies into processes and procedures and peel back multiple layers of a problem while balancing the value of different solutions; understands how best to utilize them to drive greater performance, considering the wider business context.

Salary
$133,000 - $156,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
