JOB SUMMARY

In this role, the candidate will lead the Data Governance team and will be responsible for building the program from infancy to maturity. The candidate will also be responsible for managing a team of 3 data analysts, and a Collibra administrator. Internal to the team, candidate will act as an data governance SME, both aiding in strategy development and ensuring day-to-day tasks by the team are supporting the bigger vision. Lastly, this candidate will have the opportunity to report progress to senior leadership across multiple business sectors and help evangelize the benefits of data governance across the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and guidance on design and implementation of a data governance program.
  • Formulate best practices and processes as they pertain to data governance.
  • Experience managing employees, consultants or contractors; Including reviewing work and providing feedback, direction, or re-direction as appropriate.
  • Translate business concepts to technical terms. Understand and communicate program goals and objectives.
  • Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, keeping in mind performance, reliability, scalability, usability, security, flexibility, and cost.
  • Articulate technology solutions and explain the competitive advantages/disadvantages of various technology alternatives.
  • Collaborate with the key stakeholders, other product development groups, and software vendors to identify and define solutions for complex business and technical requirements.
  • Engage with Data Governance customers/partners to understand their needs and provide suggestions/guidance on applicable data privacy techniques to solve their problems with pros/cons articulated clearly.
  • Act as point of escalation for the team - defining and demonstrating best practices and how to deliver effective data governance.
  • Engage in roadmap prioritization, sprint planning sessions, and t-shirt sizing activities when applicable.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience with data governance concepts and implementation.
  • 4+ years of experience using Collibra, or comparable enterprise-
  • Expertise in metadata management, ETL processing, and reference data management.
  • Ability to understand very complex and detailed technical solutions.
  • Deep understanding with data modeling concepts for both transactional application data as well as analytical data solutions.
  • Map database structure and design to privacy and governance classifications - connect the dots between the technical and risk mitigation organizations
  • Experience with various tools including; Microsoft Azure Data Catalog, Alation Data Catalog, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Oracle Enterprise Metadata Management, SAP PowerDesigner, ALEX, Dataedo, MetaCenter.
