If you are a forward-thinking engineering professional with experience in Generator Excitation or Electrical Engineering looking for an opportunity to grow in a management role, Emerson has a great opportunity for you! Based in Pittsburgh, PA, you will provide leadership and mentorship for all Generator Excitation Solutions activities including design, implementation, testing, and installation supervision.

As a manager, generator excitation solutions, you will:

  • Implement the standards contained in the “Emerson Business Ethics Program.” Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standard and related policies and implement them within this supervised activity.
  • Actively promote a culture passionate about safety by attending safety training and meetings, following all applicable safety policies, procedures, and work practices, and supporting preventative safety programs
  • Lead the project and field service teams in the following activities: design, implementation, testing, installation supervision, prioritization, project and contract administration
  • Develop strong business relationships with key customers, A/E firms, and end-users to cultivate growth for generator excitation opportunities
  • Proactively engage employees and expand the skills of department personnel to meet market needs
  • Participate proactively in the bid process and cost reduction program to improve competitiveness
  • Develop and implement programs to meet engineering productivity targets
  • Lead the staffing efforts to support the business growth including new employee hiring and employee development
  • Coordinate with teams of sales, operations, marketing, and field service personnel to ensure appropriate support in acquiring and implementing pursuits and customer orders
  • Work with all Emerson business units to provide efficient, cost-effective solutions for Customers

Required education, experience & skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, technical discipline, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years of applicable experience
  • Strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering working with electrical and power systems
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a team to complete projects while exceeding client expectations
  • Proven experience with a successful track record in resource management, risk management, and organizational change
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to travel 20%

Preferred education, experience & skills:

  • Experience in project management and people leadership
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Generator excitation experience in the power industry
  • Project Management Institute PMP Certification
  • Master of Business Administration degree
