Job Title: In House Volunteer Coordinator
Second Harvest Food Bank of ECI

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Place in the Organization: Report to Volunteer Program Manager

Purpose:
Assist with maintaining a first-class Volunteer Program for Second Harvest Food Bank, including developing and/or maintaining relationships with in house volunteers, ensuring volunteers receive the training and direction they need to be successful, maintaining a clean and safe workspace for the volunteers and record keeping to ensure this vital component of SHFB is successful.

General Responsibilities:

• Work independently as well as in a team setting.
• Communicate with volunteers in person, in writing and on radio.
• Discern actionable steps needed to accomplish tasks assigned to volunteers by program manager.
• Create and articulate action steps for volunteers regarding tasks/projects.
• Matching volunteers to opportunities/tasks that suit their skills.
• Supervise workflow of volunteers and adjust time/task as needed to ensure safety and project completion.
• Evaluate and escalate concerns to program manager if/when issues arise.
• Ensure volunteers have the tools/materials necessary to complete tasks and promptly advise program manager of tools/materials that are needed.
• Maintain safety and security protocols for our guests/volunteers.
• Monitor volunteer satisfaction and report any issues immediately to program manager.
• Create schedules for daily/weekly/monthly tasks.
• Develop positive professional relationships with individual volunteers and volunteer groups while supervising and working alongside them.
• Use GivePulse for in house volunteer data tracking.
• Implement strategies to resolve issues as they arise.
• Operating pallet jack, or other equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Other duties as assigned .

Requirements:

• Able to provide a positive environment for volunteers and co-workers
• Able to walk on concrete for long hours
• Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle
• Able to bend and lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
• Able to work with diverse personality types and populations
• Able to adhere to, and enforce safety regulations
