Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing and Execution Team Leader is responsible for laser production, inventory control, maintenance, production control, and purchasing for the Northern Engraving manufacturing operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the Laser team in the efficient and productive execution of work to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Serve as a technical resource and assist the team with problem solving as required.
- Solicit bids and act as project manager and key contact for major maintenance and capital expenditure projects.
- Obtain quotes, negotiate price and delivery, and create purchase orders for raw materials, components, outside services, and MRO items.
- Act as the point of contact with suppliers and expedite parts as needed.
- Coordinate delivery and pick-up of acid in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
- Manage the VMI program.
- Support manufacturing with drawings, technical packages, material allocation, and in the resolution of Quality Incident Reports.
- Oversee Inventory Control to ensure best inventory and procurement practices are followed to maintain a desired stock level of specific items and materials conforming to the production schedule and customer requirements.
- Lead weekly production meetings and support MCR meetings.
- Promote and participate in continuous improvement events and other initiatives.
- Perform all personnel related actions including hiring, performance, and disciplinary. Provide detailed performance feedback to team members.
- Create and sustain an environment of safety. Develop the skill and capability of the roles within the team to build a high level of competency and cross-training.
- Act as back-up for inventory transactions, pick/pack, and ship process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in a technical field and a minimum of two years related manufacturing experience, or five years progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Understanding of laser equipment operation
- Working knowledge of ERP systems
- Ability to read and understand prints
- Demonstrated supplier negotiation skills
- Ability to identify various materials and machining processes
- Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment

This position directly supervises other associates.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
- Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
- Travel by air or car occasionally
